Eenadu is bearing the brunt of migrations in the Telugu media. Talent erosion at the E-group is gaining speed. That its closest rival in print Andhra Jyothi is in no better position is the only consoling factor for the leading media house.
Talented journalist Bhallamudi Ramakrishna, who left the e-group a few months ago, has finally joined NTV. RK is now the News Coordinator at the upcoming channel. A post-graduate in physics, RK started his career as a contributor for Eenadu in his home town Bobbili. Soon he joined Eenadu School of journalism where he was identified as a bright spark with great potential. Posted in the General Desk, he lived up to his promise and became a trusted lieutenant of peddayana Ramoji.
During his 15-years of association with E-group, RK excelled both in the print and electronic media, ably managing to produce editions and bulletins. The soft-spoken RK is firm in expressing his views without mincing words, a good reason for the mediocre to despise him. His career at Eenadu ended when it was at a highpoint, not uncommon for some at the e-group.
During his stint at Eenadu, RK worked in Chennai and Delhi besides Hydreabad and trained many young journalists. Considered close to S.R.Ramanujan, RK's entry at NTV was not surprising...but the drama that associated it was! Insiders say, one biggie tried his best to block RK. No marks for guessing who that is! RK would be an asset for NTV, provided the ‘biggie’ doesn’t indulge in self-defeating politicking at the new channel.
YSR at Surya
YSR Sharma, another Eenadu veteran, has moved on to soon-to-be-launched daily Surya. Bleonging to the 1984 batch, YSR Sarma was the Chief Sub Editor and shift incharge at Eenadu for over a decade. His departure reduces the strenght of his batch at Eenadu to a handful -- Shastri, Khatri and others. Sharma's exit too is no surprise. He was branded as redundant, a spent force and was put into the recycle bin, sidelined that is, in recent months. His entry at Surya is a surprise and will boost the morale of scribes at Surya, as doubts arose over its launch after Andhra Jyothi's series on the promoter.

Once Ramoji proudly told his near and dear...I am contributing to telugu journalism by sending my people(i.e. trained by him)...YSR proved once again it.It seems SURYA is not going to be a brighter paper.

this posting reflects on the ettempted resurgance of ex-eenadu conservative Brahmin lobby. ramakrishna is not that great but for his nexus with sastry, sharma and later with ramanujan. once he translated "who is afraid of virginia wolf ? " as varjeeniya thodellaku bhayapadedi evvaru ? in a banner item in EENADU. you need not over emphasise his capacities. regarding y.s.r. sharma... he survived in EENADU so long because of his wife’s background.. Sarma was also close to ex MD ramesh babu and was very sadistic towards talented juniors. i was also a victim along with s.ramu, satyakumar, jayadev etc. EENADU does not lose any thing by getting rid of these medieval brains. ETV'S murthy who jumped into NTV bandwagon is also of such over hyped variety. there is a common invisible thread which connects all these scribes i.e. they belong to same species that is presently endangered. nothing more... nothing less. these are all 100% facts. i hope this comment will find a place in your blog at least to raise a healthy debate.

a transfer in any organization has its own manifestations and ramifications. here in this case too. take for example mahanti's case. he is a pronounced leftist seated himself firmly in the Indian reality. this is the reason why he speaks the lohia-ambedkar-phule dialect these days. but the point how ever is, why should the eenadu management get irritated at this? why should be a man of mahanti's calibre needs to be shunted out of the borders of the state? does mahanti throw such a challenge to these elements?? think it over!

You mean to say u r representing Anti-Brahmin lobby. I heard your argument couple of times in the past, too. I was also surprised as how most of the Eenadu general desk members were Brahmins. Even more surprised when any Kamma, who has got bit of translation ability had been (even now) offered a seat in General desk. You all guys are in caste mud. That is why you have such understanding over issues and blogs. “Yadbhavam Tatdbhavati” (Pardon me. Is it right? I’m not good at Telugu) You guys are good at attributing malicious intentions to your opponents. I’m not a Brahmin, for your information. (No offence: My Brahmin friend (we fight on every issue, almost) says you guys (u know whom I am referring to) have similar thinking to that of Jews, I hate this argument. But I feel that he must have some point, when I see comment like yours.)

I take strong objection to the remarks made in the first comment. Can you judge a person's mettle by a mistake he committed in a story? (Check your spellings in the first sentence of your comment). I am afraid you are seeing every thing from the caste lenses.
The agency copy on the idiomatic expression 'Varginia Wolf' was indeed misleading. Any experienced translator could have misled by it. Why don't you talk about the great translation works did by RK? Go and translate stories in the pressure cooker like weather at general desk to know the work pressure. We are prone to commit mistakes there. I can't buy the argument that RK shot into fame due to his links with Shastry, Sharma and Ramanujan. (In fact RK never had good relations with Sharma and he had many fights with Sastry, a true casteist. It is the Kamma caste lobby that gave tough time to RK, argubly one of the best hands in AP electronic media). RK's students, that too non-brahmins, are performing well in other channels. Go and meet Zee-TV Ramesh to know how RK gives a shit to the caste.
All said and done, as Vikram pointed out RK is an asset for N-TV.

YSRS, a writer, is a misfit in the field of journalism. He was instru'mental' in booting out so many seniors from Eenadu. Prabhakar, once the News Editor, was sent home, thanks to YSRS manipulations. YSRS carried a jocular comment made by Mr.Prabhakar to Ramoji and ensured the end of the soft-spoken Prabhakar. He ruled the roost in general desk till a dynamic sub called Ramu wrote a lengthy letter to Ramoji about Sharma, Sastry and Ramesh Babu. Subsequently, Sharma was delegated to unimportant positions. As he came to know that his days are being numbered, YSRS joined Surya. Khatri, batchmate of YSRS, is the worst victim of this gaddam babu. The self-centric Sharma won't stay with Surya for a long time.

Ramakrishna. no dout he is good script writer. he write good story's but as man we cannot accapt his mentality. he is such a person he always trying to pinch somebody and enjoy. we can say him sadist. Regardin Ramakrishna's English languae proficiency, I should say he is one of the journalists in Telugu media who speaks so fluently and writes too. I have worked with him, I knew his translation abilities, he never did any mistake. Probably the one mistake that here it mentioned was at very early stage of career. I was not sure it did such mistake, though. Surely, the early days were different from now.
Without doubt Ramakrishna is intelligent, well-informed, prolific news writer. S Raju, Satyamurthy and Jayadev were victims but what was it got to do with Ramakrishna. They are infact his close friends.
Ramakrishna believed his peddayana blindly and refused many tempting offers in the past. Sadly, he was made to resign. How can you blame him?

Till last day we feel what appears in this blog is geneuine. I stunned to see the piece about RK. Did you know he produced nothing in Eenadu except translating few items. He did not handled desk or least he edited any page or don't the page priority as he was not in that task in his eenadu carrear. At ETV also he is just half hour bulletine producer. Net bharatham is not his programme it is totally product of Kareem of teja weekly (now) initially now by Suresh (vizag spark) not him. His stinct in ETV2 was very sad. He was totally failed and back to square one ETV1. Is there any experiment he had done at ETV. Contratry to your view he was never cordial with his colleagues. Let us ask Rami Reddy or Pavan or Gopalam Ramesh or MSR of ZeeTV or Kiron or Somayajulu at Maa TV.. or Vishwanath of Teja TV... All the guys of ETV know how adamant he was. He is just half honour producer...IS know his capabilities. Most of his work was administration... All the anchor who were at ETV known this...

It is true that EENADU general desk was ruled by few sets of brahmins at different points of time. only when mr saleem was leading the general desk he allowed some non-brahmin fellows to write banner items. for example i was told by saleem garu that entire gulf war coverage was assigned by him to khatri and mahanthi( both BCs).likewise mr prabhakar tried to be impartial. but later imbecile ramesh babu flattened by the flattering brahmin lobby during BJP-TDP alliance era encouraged at first sastri-sharma duo. they in turn projected with hype several young brahmin boys who include bhallamudi ramakrishna (initially ... later he took shelter under ramanujan ala sayesekhar), regalla santosh, tigulla krishna murty, vakkalanka ramana etc who are still ruling the roost. after break in TDP-BJP alliance brahmins are relegated and kamma TDP-CPM elements got in to the front seat . ex radical nadella rahul who was instrumental in gopan pally site allotment to DN Prasad when he was a non-journalist(manager)was aptly rewarded by DN first with incharge ship of special desk and then with general desk. once simpleton rahul now cloths and behaves more like a western babu.other DN loyalists Nannapaneni viswaprasad ,subba rao, vijay and IR etc all are rewarded with comfortable placements. Another bigwig MNR took care of paritala vishnu etc. this situation pushed eenadu editorial department into chaos which is reflected in its prosaic content. interestingly kiron was kept in dark about all these developments. this situation was ably encashed by andhra jyothy.

The discussion on the shifting of RK and YSRS to N-TV and Surya respectively is taking an interesting turns and twists. There is an attempt to take stock of the general desk activities from the caste point of view. The author failed to consider the fact that some secular elements waged a relentless fight against Brahmin bosses. S.Ramu and T.Satya of the EJS second batch fought against Sastry-Sharma duo tooth and nail. SR was in forefront to oppose the caste-based politics in the desk. In the process they even opposed Ramesh Babu, who tried to patronize Umapathy and other Kammas. Caste played a crucial role during the tenure of Sastry, the guru of RK. A fine deskman, Sastry had very close relations with Jayadeva, Madhu, RK, Regalla, Tigulla and Vakkalanka. Sastry at a point of time literally ostracized Satya and tried to see his end but it was opposed by Ramu-Satya duo, who were roommates and bosom friends. One of the desk incharges, Murali, who is now in America, tried to support Umapathi.
Thanks to his caste, Rahul Kumar was promoted in the general desk. He might be a good reporter but not a sub-editor. He used to take the help of bright subs to give headlines.
The ones who lost so much due to this caste-fight is Dattaram Khatri, G.Venkateswarlu, Timmappa and others. These chaps didn’t have guts to take on casteist forces. The silently suffered the humiliations and contended with what was given by bosses. If a journalist goes by caste, what good he can do for the society? Indeed it’s time for introspection.
Now N-TV seems to be a force to reckon with in Telugu electranic media with the joining of SRR, KSR, Murthy, RK and others with it. Whatever the caste equations may be, these guys are going to giva tough fight to Ee-TV and TV-9. Since they were humiliated by Ramoji, these bright sparks are burning with killer instinct. It is strange to talk about caste politics in the media. Naturally upper caste people do come to this mediocre field. When the country is in the caste mess, y do you talk about caste politics in the general desk? Gongalilo thintoo..ventrukalu lekka pettukovatam danduga.

It seems, you are trapped by Kommineni Sreenivasa Rao, the pet to Chandrababu Naidu. My hunch is that he sent or he made to sent some commments against RK to this blog. KSR is the man who tried to prevent the entry of RK into N-TV. The grapewine is that none other than Narendranath Chowdary made an enquiry into RK's career and finally decided to take him into the top slot of the channel. Its wrong to cast caste aspersions against RK and KSR, both are very fine at their resepetive fields
