Yes, Exciting News does come from DC! The management has given a varying pay hike to most of the editorial staff. (Any other ideas to stop the regular resignations are welcome!). Those of our friends still continuing to work at DC got excited on Saturday at finding a larger balance in their bank accounts. Plans were drawn for a weekend bash. But many dropped the idea after they Got Both Sides Of The Story! Surely, there would be many unhappy souls around when the hike varies from Rs 8k to 3k. Happiness is after all, relative! The really exciting news is from the district reporters who got a hike after a long time. There again, some complain of arbitrariness. We are sure to hear more from our folks soon.
Buzz @ Eenadu: A major shake up of editorial staff is on the cards. It might be more of a shock therapy -- desk to reporting bureau and vice versa besides transfers. This might result in more exits. More on this soon.

Whether there is a hike or not, people will continue to leave the DC. But there are only two people (excluding editor) who are determined to stick on to their jobs come what may. Everyone in the editorial department knows who they are.
These two gentlemen's capacity for intrigue and scheming is phenomenal. They are forever engaged in the business of laying intricate traps for people working with them. They are past masters in the art of playing games and trapping people in difficult situations.
Unless these two notorious characters are evicted out of the DC, nothing can be done to improve the work atmoshphere.
