PLOTTING SCAMS

The best part of being a journalist is the amount of privileges that one gets to enjoy. From gifts handed out at press conferences to sumptuous lunch and dinner to… aha… the best of it all, free plots from the government of the day.
Every journalist worth his ink, crows about morality in public life and how politicians and other crooks have besmirched the society with their acts. But they rarely talk about their own reputation and the favours they seek and get. The biggest handout that every so-called journalist looks for is a plot from the government. When it comes to getting a free or subsidized land, it does not matter which government is in power. It does not matter how corrupt the government is or what its credentials are.
Spineless journalists in cahoots with their association/s use every trick in the book to get land for themselves and their friends. From plots in Road No 3, Banjara Hills to the Journalist colony in Jubilee Hills and now the land at Gopanapalli, everything goes in the name of being a member of the fourth estate.
How can a journalist who has been bribed with a subsidised plot claim to be fair in his job? Will he dare write against the same man who gave him a plot of land at a throwaway price?
Now a petition has come up in the Andhra Pradesh High Court questioning on how government could give away free / subsidized land to MLAs, Judges and Journalists. That judgment should be out soon, and with it will tumble out a number of skeletons.

Many journalists have sold their plots within a year of being allotted the same. What is worse is that the Registration department has allowed the plots to be registered in violation of the standing rules. This has happened with the plots allotted near Gachibowli, with the journalist association bosses taking bribes in cahoots with non-journalists who have brought these plots.
Now, the time has come to ask the courts that these registrations need to be cancelled and the land to be reverted back to the government. Let us see how many newspaper editors will dare carry a story on the mother of all scams. If they don't do it, we know that everyone is involved in this crook business.

An RTI petition is being filed seeking to know who owns the plots allotted to journalists and when they were sold and registered. Shortly, those names will be on this site. With it, the reputation of some of the so-called big names in journalism in the state be exposed, and they will join the august company pickpockets, cheats and rowdy-sheeters.

Watch this space. Something big is about to happen.

Hi Vikram,

What ever the intention may be...
but You should think one thing.
Those who sold the plot...is because of Financial compulsion.

Where you have to look in to is... People Like Anjaiah, Ravi and many other BIGS making huge money by doing brokarage. They are purchasing plots from needy and in other way, exploiting the fellow journos needs. later, selling the same with huge profits.

check the reality and make it...dont be hurry...good day

Its high time that there has been an attempt to check the credentials of journalist. This would probably let the cat out of the bag, lets hope for the best.

Dear Vikram! Good article. Kindly include MPs, MLAs, IAS officers, who got plots at subsidiery prices. Do you feel are they eligible for plots more than poor journalists. Why are you creating problems for journalists?

Do you mean to say that those who donot take a house site from the government are pious like Ravi Prakash ? He always brings this matter to the notice of all and say that he is an ethical person and that he rejected the govt plot ( didnt apply for one ). Since the managements are being managed and the journalists are mere spectators, taking plots doent amount to an unethical practice. Just a journalist cant decide the policy of the medium in which he is working. What do you say ? Let other journalists also think over the subject. ( Note : I am not a beneficiary of govt. plot )

Your article gives an impression that all journalists in Hyderabad are taking favours from the government. It may be true that many of them are lobbying hard to get the plots, but there are a few who, despite being eligible, did not even apply for it. Along with the list of benefeciaries/would-be-beneficiaries, also publish the list of journalists who at least tried to be honest.

Vikram,
You support all bad guys launching news channels. You dont have any moral right to talk about poor journalists getting a small piece of land.

We are open to a discussion on the subject -- on the need to shield media away from people of questionable credentials.

Hmmm, lets call a spade a spade. In my opinion it is bribary on the part of Govt. to doll out special perks to journos and hence both Govt. anf the journos who availed of the benefits are unethical.

Otherwise, why should Govt. subsidize journos? Are they special class of citizens?

Dear Vikram
journalists can not decided on the policy of the newspaper or channel they work for. Over the decades successive govts barring the td gave land to journalists as a welfare activity. journalists whose sole property is the plot given by the government through housing society sold their plots to meet urgent expenses such as performing marriages of their children, paying for their wards education and in some cases they used the money send their children abroad. in a few cases journalists had to sell their plots to pasy for the medical treatment. instead of exposing the corrupt and unscrupulous journalists. you are unnecesarily making an issue of journalists selling the plots which they own. your uncharitable and unjustified attack on poor journalists has resulted in fall in the price of journalists plots. in a way you are harming the genuine interests of the journalists. Check your conscious if you have one
