Freedom that isn't

vikram,
its interesting. i wish the journalists realise the difference between the freedom of press (fop) the managements and that of the journalists. journalists have lost their freedom almost three decades ago and it can never be gained back. appointments on contracts and wages at the mercy of the management are a few indications on journalists having lost fop. the stringer network had further deteriorated the fop of the journalists. in fact the stringer network had helped the managements to save a lot in the form of avoiding right wages and made 'stringers' slaves. an nmr worker gets his services regularised after five years of service; a hotel worker gets minimum wage, but not a stringer. and the journalists are asked to get advertisements, increase circulation. where is fop? and whose fop is it? and who wants the fop? how can ramoji rao openly declare that he is anti-congress and still talks about fop? media is expected to play opposition role and thus can be against the govt. but not against any particular party - no matter the party is in opposition or in powre. how can such media talk about fop? its not just eenadu. for that matter, no paper and no channel is free from such affiliations and interests. ramachandra murthy, srinivasa reddy and m v r sastry have come out exposing the difference between the fop of the journalists and the fop of the managements. as journalists, let us be wise. let this debate not give a chance for any industrialist or businessman in future to start a paper or channel to cover up his underworld or business activities. are we going to support davood ibrahim tomorrow, if he buys a channel or paper to cover up his unlawful activities and say his arrest would be an attack on fop? i hope more and more journalists would start exposing the fake fop and work for the real fop.

hey vikram u r great...iam very impressed on ur article.yes there is no freedom for journalists in andhra pradesh u know. freedom of press only for ramoji rao and radha krishna, and their families to earn crores of rupees. the both people always protect for chandra babu, whole andhra people know that. recent times radha krishna of andhra jyothy told their reporters that he was 'satya harischandra' he dont bothered about chandra babu and telugu desham. realty is not correct 100pc. and also people knows what is what. andhra pradesh people to waiting one daliy news paper. this is the correct time. congress people take care.

Hello Vikram,

Earlier I was a great fan of Eenadu, as I had believed it provided better content in political, business, sports and other issues. But after recent Margardarshi Controversy, somehow I feel the newspaper last its charm. I do remember, even when there were allegations against Ramoji in the past Eenadu was open to write them. This was what attracted me most. Now I have subscribed for Jyothy for a week as I feel I am not getting the full context from Eenadu and also more watching TV9(earlier I considered it a dirty news channel). Just why don’t you put Poll to know for people like me whether everybody thinking so or not.

What Raghu said is absolutely correct. Readers of Eenadu are being deprived of correct information. For their ulterior motives, Eenadu management is giving news in a partisan manner. This is wrong. They should honour the feelings of the readers who buy thier paper. Am I correct or not ?

Hi Raghu,

Everyone with brains are feeling the same way as you said.Nowadays the EENADU is looking dull because, it is suppressing the facts and want to cover its face. The most unfortunate thing is still this kind of thinking not happening at mass level. Can any one do anything to reach out more people with raising voice against so-called fop.

friends,

we all know about the 10 incarnations of lord vishnu. fortunately, chandrababu and raghavulu have found a 11th incarnation in ramoji and want us all worship the king maker. the man who says he is against one particular party and reiterates that he would continue to write against the same party, cries for freedom of press if the party's govt nails his business (non-media) activities. we have several holy priests like chandrababu, raghavulu, venkaiahnaidu and chandrasekhar to tell us all about the 11th incarnation. so let us all believe that ramoji is another avatar of god and his biased media should be honoured and his corrupt business activities are to be protected.

I agree with Raghu. I used to think whatever was published in the eenadu was true. But after reading the news in Eenadu on Margadarshi events and the way it is presented to public (hiding the bad remarks on margadarshi by supreme court etc), I've lost credibility on that paper. If someone talks about freedom of press, he started projecting that news item as if they have opinioned that the legal action on margadarshi as attack on press.

People no longer consider Eenadu as a fair paper any more( ofcourse it was never an impartial paper!!!).There was never a negative news about his Margadarshi scandal. All are positive news..especially venkaiah Naidu supporting it one day in Hyderabad another day in Bangalore and aonther day in Delhi. It is funny to support Ramoji in this matter.

very good article. the situation in every industry is the same. we do not have any moral values. always try and exploit the others. probably it is in our culture, our upbringing.

Friday's lead story in EENADU -- Ramoji's story shows how absurd to the levels one can reach in the guise of Freedom of Press. Can Ramoji Rao allows similar space to another person if he/she sends a press note to Eenadu to get the same premium coverage. Just becoz he owns the paper, he can't publish his press note as a lead story... IF he really cares for Freedom of Press, he should have got the same press note published as an advertisement in an inside page, and give same coverage on the First Page lead story for Arun Kumar's press conference or Shabbir Ali's Press Note that appeared in other papers on Saturday.

SHAME ON YOU RAMOJI... AT LEAST I STOPPED SUBSCRIBING U R PAPER.

Fantastic man...Keep it up !

If there are no violation of rules in the case of Margadarsi chits, Ramoji can declare the details in his EEnadu front page and shut the mouths of the critisers. But he is not doing it and hiding some facts hence some suspecion on him.

It is a tragedy to see Ramoji , a man who built single handedly built ,a news paper which became synonymous with Telugu print media , demolish it bit by it on a daily basis. All the Kings horses and all the kings men cannot put EENADU together again.

Ramoji violated laws for mobilising deposits from public. For hiding his mistakes he misleading and bring fop into the pic.

Ramoji Rao has committed 2 crimes.

1. Illegally collected $650 million from depositors.
2. Evaded income tax on $650 million.

Either way it is a lose-lose for him.

How can Ramoji rao waste news print to promote his personal business ? he should have given his version as an advertisement. Is margadarsi Financiers in such a bad shape that it cannot afford to pay for its own advertisements ? Let ramoji Rao come out with a spaecific answer to these queries from the people. Or else, let him stop talking and take the punishment. Its better he stopped preachings hereafter.
Regards.
