Media Churn

Quo Vadis Ram? Finally, yes finally, Ram Karan is exiting from the Times Of India. The Super Cop who ruled the Desk at ToI Hyderabad since inception in 2000 and outlasted the narcissist Jyotirmaya Sharma and wily Mukherjee has however been outdone by the slithery Nag, Kingshuk. Well, may be Ram’s just tired of battling the cretins. Ram was always known to have the potential but it was in ToI that he made a scintillating display of it. Shorn of niceties and irascible at times, the tall and lean Ram is undoubtedly peerless in the profession — a cut above the rest. So, whose gaining from ToI’s loss? DC is agog that Ram is coming in! “Our Ram (TVR) has roped him in,” says one DC chap. Some of them are already foreseeing the future, despite past failures at it. “If Ram comes in, who would go out?” they ask. Is that so? Let’s see. Anyone with more info, please write in.
Sources say The Hindu is interested in taking Ram. At least one senior is said to be lobbying for him, undertaking secret missions to Chennai. Maybe, he must have realised the need imrpove editorial standards of the local content.! Anyone in the know, plz tell us.
But wait, Ram may be the second senior scribe to join the corporate at a senior position, after Sudhakar Reddy and at the same Co, i.e. Satyam Comp! Inside info, anyone? write to apmedia@rediffmail.com

Telugu scribes just walk in to DC: When KSR moved from Etv to DC many were surprised. Many jaws dropped cause nobody ever thought the hop from RFC to 36 SD Road was so short and easy. Krishna Prasad moved in next and then everyone knew DC is an easy game. Now, all scribes know that DC is there just for the asking… they just need to walk in. And why not when many are walking out. Ayub Ali did the reverse hop from 36 SD Rd to RFC. Someone, plz double check this and let’s know. Nobody knows if Man Friday Gowri Shankar is taking the jump. For now he is on the wall. Any updates on him? Poor chap Gowri, will he have the heart to return, after that stinker of a mail from the editor he was so pally with!!

Entire world knows that the Times of India is running its media business ONLY to safegaurd its real estate spread across the country. Can't you see how unabashedly they recruit non-journalists? I don't remember the paper carrying a single story that made any impact on the system in AP since the beginning of the edition. I only hear every now and then the news about the company's fight to retain its potruded compound wall on Road No 1. As regards the greatness of Ram Karan, the writer has created a hype about this guy. He must have gone to his office regularly, and handled copy cautiously. Just like any other employee-like journalist in the field. But sure this Ram Karan is not known for making any significant contribution to the cause of journalism. It seems to be hype.

whoever is managing this blog does not have the balls. why did he/she change the sentence mentioning the role of Kurien and co???
if you comment on the media matters, you should have the balls to standby it. changing comments to suit someone is ridiculous. isn't it?

Now,if you have any journalistic integrity (to comment on Ramoji Rao et all), tell us why this sentence was changed. You talked about Kurien and Co in earlier posting. now we find the sentence changed. what does it mean.

Hi
Be careful when you comment on some media matters. You should also be above the board!

Ram, a Super Cop? That too ruling the desk? Sounds funny. May be that's the perception of out-siders of TOI. Isn't it Ram? Try not to commit the same kind of bluder you have committed in 2005, without a foresight. Stop blindly trusting the unworthy gang of lazy lads, like those living a life of culture of vultures in TOI and associated with u from the beginning of the TOIHYD.
Srinivas, If you don't remember Times, carrying even a single story that made any impact on the system in AP since the beginning of the edition then ur mistaken. We journalists working in TOI are not spineless one's. Go and read the back issues again.

Best of Luck to you Ram,

Hi Jindagi,

sorry guy, however you try to defend your TOI, ipso facto: The journalistic style statement of TOIHYD (having no ‘style sheet’ of its own, mind you!) in sum, is about chicks and chicken 65’s, bop and boozy dinners, biriyani packets and sanitary napkins, a series of write ups- scaling inch by inch, from the toe to the top of Monica Bodies (I wonder, how this TOI reporter, with such an ease could sneak and crawl into the bedrooms and bathrooms, and come up with such items? Or is it just as a matter of fact, wishful-thinking-journalism?).

From the inputs gathered from TOI, these sand-filled brainy bodies writing rot are the role models of, how to be a successful journalist in your TOI. Is it not a fact?

What’s more shameful is, items lifted from Eenadu, Andhra Jyothi and other newspapers reappear after few days in TOI, with a byname. This is the fate of Dada of English dailies (sorry, a product) in the country, that claims as World No.1 circulated broad sheet daily.

My dear Jindagi,

People are buying newspapers with their hard earned money not by looting ATMs and Banks, let’s not forget that. When you are selling soap, you should give the best soap. You can not take people for a raid all the time.

You TOI! You are so arrogant and don’t bother what readers want. You sell what you think best for them. So, Hydrabidies could not bear, when the naked TOI is knocking their doors every morning with an unabashed bareness. Thus, your readership count is slipping down (you may try to put up a brave face with cooked up circulation figures. That’s all together a different game to talk about).

To regain your circulation figures, what you do? You don’t improve your content to the likes of the readers. Becoz, Ur more interested in short-cut-routes and come up in your own style of, ‘luring and enticing’. How? Bringing back with a big bang: Hey! Again, Hyderabad is playing Times Tambola. But, this way of fudging figures out of gambling won’t long last. Expecting low-market Hyderabadies (as u see them) to puncture their pockets to strengthen your muscle, to please and feed the appetites of the so-called up-market packs can not go on forever. You are at loss of face in the market TOI; it’s high time that you should try to come to terms with your readers, and all readers.

Dillagi from DC.

Hi,
ATJ, don’t celebrate, I am taking lessons, to match your foul-mouthed lingo and will come back with stories of our own house soon.
